Prepaid phone cards have grown so much in popularity over the past few years that I can honestly say, particularly within my circle of friends, I don't know anyone who hasn't used one.



Their growth has been significant within the international calling arena, in fact, prepaid phone cards have become part of the communication vocabulary. International phone cards, international calling cards and prepaid phone cards...you've only got to take a walk down a busy shopping precinct and you see phone card advertising everywhere. From the local newsagent to the delicatessan; you don't have to look very far to buy a phonecard.

They've become part of the travelling landscape. In Australia, young backpackers out seeing the world before they head home and settle down, have found international phone cards to be a real bonus. Phoning home to family and friends couldn't be cheaper. Prepaid phone cards valued at 20 dollars will get you at least 600 minutes talk time to countries like the U.S.A. from Australia and that's being conservative.

Telephone seminars are another area where phone cards have become popular. An hour long overseas seminar listening to your favorite motivational speaker would become costly on a landline or cell phone but with a phone card, it "costs peanuts." I've saved myself a "ton" of money in this area. Migrants to other countries have also benifitted. Where it was once expensive to call overseas, nowadays, with a prepaid phone card, it's as easy as dialling in a code and talking to loved ones via cheap rates.
