When it comes to self defense, few devices are as effective, or have such immediate results as, a stun gun. The purpose of a stun device is to disable an assailant, giving you time to get away from a dangerous situation. There are many different companies currently producing stun devices, and many different types of stun guns. Here are a few of the most popular:
Although TASER devices are usually classified separately from stun guns, TASER models can be used not only from a distance, but also when next to the assailant, pressed against the attacker's skin like a stun gun. These are among the most well-known electric devices used to subdue an attacker. One major benefit of a TASER device over a typical stun gun is that it can also be used at a distance, because it fires probes on wires to deliver the electric shock rather than relying on probes attached directly to the device.
The Runt is one of the most popular brands. This mini stun gun is very powerful, and easily concealed in a purse or pocket due to its small size, approximately 3 1/2 inches by 2 inches by 1 inch. It can also be worn like a pager. Its 350,000 to 950,000 volts of power is more than enough to temporarily disable any opponent. The rechargeable version of the 950,000 volt Runt will save money on batteries.
Small Fry stun device, is another popular brand of mini stun gun, it has 1,000,000 volts of power, and yet is small enough to be concealed inside a cigarette pack. Many Small Fry models also include a bright LED light to illuminate the area. When shined into your attacker's eyes, the light is so bright that it can cause temporary blindness and disorientation.
In addition to LED lights, many stun guns also incorporate strong flashlights or telescopic self defense batons. Stun flashlights offer a convenient source of light in addition to the ability to efficiently incapacitate an attacker. Telescopic batons attached to stun devices allow the user to fight back with an extended reach. They are particularly popular with security guards and those who frequently come into contact with animals.
The cell phone stun gun is designed to look exactly like a real cell phone, down to the buttons and even the display screen. This disguised weapon gives you the elements of surprise, with 900,000 to 950,000 volts of power. Cellphone stun devices provide discreet protection; they are available in multiple colors, including pink and orange, and can be carried in a leather holster designed to look just like the case you would use to carry an actual cellphone.
SABRE stun guns are brought to you by the same company behind SABRE self defense sprays, some of the most effective pepper sprays available today. The line of SABRE stun weapons, including 6 different models, range from 120,000 to 500,000 volts, including a 500,000 volt stun baton. SABRE is known for safe yet effective devices that are easy to use.
Streetwise stun guns are packed with features, such as a bright electric current passing between the prongs to create an intimidating electrical sound, often enough to stop an attacker even without discharging the unit. Streetwise units also include a loud audible alarm, wrist strap, and holster, and come in models ranging from 200,000 to 1,000,000 volts.
The Stun Master stun gun is one of the most popular brands available. A leading brand since 1994, all Stun Master stun devices include safety switches, wrist straps, and a lifetime warranty. Stun Master devices, which come in several different styles from 100,000 to 975,000 volts, are designed to be both effective and easy to use.
Resist Attack has a full range of pepper spray to keep you and your family safe. Also check our tazer specials
Does anyone in the US still use beepers/pagers?
Does anyone in the US still use beepers/pagers? The reason I ask is because I left the US in 1996, and at the time, they were HUGE. Everyone had Motorola beepers, and the latest ones could display a line of text as well as the number. When I moved back here to Australia in 1996, nobody had beepers - instead mobile phones were much more popular. I'm wondering if they still enjoy the same popularity over there that they once did?
I meant to add - EXCEPT doctors. Also, even then I don't see how one would be necessary. Wouldn't a cell phone on silent mode serve the same purpose?
Pagers are still popular with Doctors because they can be left on in places where a cellphone would need to be turned off. Not a lot of call for them other than that though.
