Buy Cell Phones From China to Sell in U.S.?
Is it illegal to purchase cell phones from a different country and sell it in the U.S.? The phones I would like to purchase are unlocked Tri-Band phones and are China made brands. Prefer answers from someone who really knows about our laws in the U.S.

It is not illegal to do this.
However - you need to find out if there are any import duties on imported electronics and factor those into your cost analysis.
Another issue you need to consider is that you have to be sure that the person on the other end is trustworthy. It is very common for somebody in China to simply walk off with your money - and the government there will not be interested in tracking them down.
In addition you have to ensure that the devices are not copies of another trademarked product. If the product is counterfeit or infringes a trademark - they will be seized and destroyed by US customs.
And finally - get a sample of their retail product before they find out you are looking to resell them. A common trick is for then to send you an 'American market' product in the sample and a bunch of cheaply made junk (domestic market) for your order.
